In May 2025, Cambodia successfully attracted 59 new investment projects worth approximately $816 million, with China emerging as the major investor, accounting for 62.27%. These projects are expected to create around 44,000 job opportunities. Among the investment projects, 38 are located outside special economic zones, while 21 are within them. Compared to 2024, the number of investment projects increased by 136%, and the capital rose by 231%. In the first five months, Cambodia registered a total of 290 investment projects, an increase of about 90%, with investment capital around $4.2 billion. China also plans to establish two new specialized zones in Cambodia to promote high-tech and agro-processing industries.
