Cambodia's exports to RCEP members up 22 per cent year-on-year

Cambodia exported goods worth US$5.26 billion to members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) in the first eight months of this year, up 22 per cent compared to US$4.3 billion in the same period last year, according to a recent news release from the Ministry of Commerce.
From January to August this year, Cambodia's top three export destinations under the RCEP agreement were Vietnam, China and Japan, the source noted.
In response, Ministry of Commerce spokesman Ban Sok Vijay said that RCEP, which came into effect last year, has been a key driver of Cambodia's export growth and has become a magnet for attracting more foreign direct investment into the country.
It should be mentioned that the RCEP membership comprises 15 members in the Asia-Pacific region, including the 10 ASEAN countries, as well as five key partner countries, namely: China, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.
