Cambodia approves US$444 million investment project in 15 days

The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) recently announced that it approved 22 new investment projects within 15 days, with a total investment of more than US$444 million.The notice shows that the 22 new investment projects involve data centers, iron ore plants, garment factories, breeding and processing plants, logistics centers, furniture factories, etc.In 2023, CDC approved a total of 268 investment projects with a total investment of US$4.92 billion, an increase of 22% over the same period last year. Investment projects are mainly concentrated in the fields of industry, infrastructure, agriculture and tourism. Among them, investment in the industrial sector maintained a substantial growth trend, accounting for 92% of the total number of newly approved projects, and the investment amount accounted for 46% of the total investment amount; infrastructure projects accounted for 2.6% of the total number of projects, and the investment amount accounted for 44% of the total investment amount.In recent years, Cambodia has attracted more and more Chinese companies to invest in Cambodia through the joint construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative", especially in the field of infrastructure construction.
