Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi successfully concluded his visit to Cambodia

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi concluded a two-day official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia on the 13th, during which he met with Cambodia's top leaders, expressed strong support for the upcoming new government, and prepared for Mr. Hun Manet's first visit to China since he became prime minister.

Wang Yi, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, began his visit to Phnom Penh on Saturday at the invitation of Cambodian caretaker Foreign Minister Prak Sokhonn and held several meetings with Cambodia's top leaders and senior officials.

Wang is the first senior foreign diplomat to visit Cambodia after caretaker Prime Minister Hun Sen announced he would step down on Aug. 22, paving the way for his eldest son, Mr. Hun Manet, to form a new government and end his 38 years in power.

Before leaving, King Norodom Sihamoni also received Wang Yi at the Royal Palace.

Against the backdrop of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the "Year of Friendship", the two foreign ministers discussed action plans to further promote cooperation in various areas, including political relations, parliamentary diplomacy, trade promotion, investment facilitation, tourism promotion, educational exchanges, infrastructure development and security cooperation.

They expressed satisfaction with the strong and dynamic momentum of the comprehensive strategic partnership.
